Do something about it!

I've been wanting to get this post up for the past couple of weeks and I'm happy to finally be taking the time out to write it. I've really been slacking with my posts lately and let me explain why.. For some time I've been feeling really low about my appearance, this has effected my mood massively. I was feeling down constantly not really knowing why, I became so unproductive with a lot, I wasn't in the right mindset to blog, I felt unhappy all the time.. all because I was no longer confident in my body and purely just unhappy with it.

I used to go to the gym quite a lot, especially last year but from the beginning of this year and onwards I started slacking even worse than before. I pretty much ended up cancelling my membership and stopped working out completely and wasn't eating healthy as much. Actually, I would do yoga here and there, go on morning runs with my boyfriend every other weekend but nothing was really consistent.

I didn't realise how much I'd miss this lifestyle and it took me feeling unhappy with my body to really see this. I knew I had to do something about it, as much as I was feeling down, one thing I wouldn't allow myself to feel was bad for being unhappy. As much as I think it's important to be positive in everything, I also think it's okay to have those 'not so great days' and 'moments' where you're unhappy.. it's what makes us human. My only advice is not to sit in that unhappiness for too long and allow it to consume you entirely, find ways to pick yourself up again, hence the title of this post.. do something about it!

As much as I was feeling down about my body, I knew what I had to do. Luckily I've been working this summer so I was really looking forward to pay day so I could sign up for the gym again! The funny thing is, since wanting to get back into a healthy lifestyle, I'm not entirely focused on the way my body will look at the end, I'm really taking the time to acknowledge that it's so important to look after your body for health purposes. Your body gets you through so much, why not give it the love it needs by being active and eating right? It'll all be so worth it in the long run.

So, what have I done about my unhappiness? Well I've already rejoined the gym and this week just gone I've been 3 times already! I want to push it to 4 but right now my aim is to be consistent, not only focus on going to the gym but eating clean too.. which I'm already struggling with but this is a process right? One step at a time.

You always have a choice to change a situation you're unhappy about. I feel like a lot of us feel like our hands are tied and all we should do is to sit and wait for the situation to solve itself, that's not how it should be at all. Whatever the situation may be, a bad relationship, friendship, job.. anything, start making the steps into changing it.

  1. This was such an inspirational post, babe! You seriously have nothing to feel bad about your body! You are perfect the way you are. But I totally understand because I have my days too. You make a great point about doing something about it -- I completely agree that we are in control of our feelings and it's up to us to make bad feelings go away or turn into something rewarding. Thanks for sharing and getting personal! xo, sharon

  3. Great post! I have gone through times where I don't feel confident and instead of doing something about it I just do nothing. It's hard to get out of that mindset, but once you are able to push through it it really is an amazing feeling. That pink shirt looks amazing on you too!

  4. Its definitely important to take stock of your lifestyle every once in a while and make little adjustments when needed. I am going on a little health kick for the next couple of weeks myself...giving up red wine is the hardest for me! Anyway, bravo for deciding to do something about it rather than ignore it!

  5. So great you started back going to the gym! I was in a rut a few months ago and wasn't in the right gym. I was so unmotivated. I've since joined a new one and I have so much more motivation now! I've even found the perfect group of people to work out with. Keep us posted on your journey!
