As you may know, I absolutely love using Virgin Experience Days to find deals on weekends away, spa breaks, etc. I found a deal for 2 nights away at the West Cliff hotel, including breakfast and access to spa facilities for £225! This was perfect.
Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best, we had decided to spend most of our time on the beach but the weather had other plans. It was raining on and off on the Friday plus very windy and Saturday was just abit chilly and windy again. The wind made it difficult for us to actually sit on the beach, as you can imagine it was just abit too cold.
We still wanted to make the most of this weekend so we managed to come up with some alternatives. We got to Bournemouth around 12:30 on Friday, check in wasn't until 3pm so we had some time to kill. We headed down to the town center, which was only a 10/15 minute walk from our hotel and had a little wonder around to see what was in the area. We then went to the arcades and had the best time playing all the classic arcade games! We spent quite some time here and just as we were about to leave, the rain got even worse and just started pouring down. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long and as soon as we saw the rain settle a bit, we power walked back to our hotel!
The main hotel pool - the spa pool was elsewhere in the hotel
The staff here were lovely and after having such a smooth check in, we were keen to head to our room. It was a cute, cosy, small room and I quite liked how simple the interior was. After settling into the room, we decided to head down to the spa and relax before heading back out or dinner. I was very much impressed with the spa, it had a jacuzzi, sauna, relaxation room and an aromatherapy room which reminded us of being in Thailand! The only thing I wasn't too impressed by was the pool, it wasn't heated so I didn't spend long in here at all. I mean, this didn't change anything really, we still had a really nice time relaxing here.
After our much needed spa session, we got ready for dinner. We initially wanted to go to Miller and Carter but stupidly, we didn't book a table! The restaurant was fully booked that evening and Saturday evening so we ended up going to Las Iguanas which I must say, is slowly becoming one of my favourite restaurants. They do really nice nachos and cocktails!
The next day came around pretty quick. Breakfast at the hotel was good, they had a good selection of pretty much everything you need.. only thing missing was some fresh fruit. There was a fruit salad but this obviously doesn't accommodate everyone. After breakfast we went back to our room, I took a nap and Daniel decided to go for a run.. yes, whilst it was extremely windy lol.
After this we decided we'd go and watch Hobbs & Shaw at the cinema (which was amazing btw). Then headed to the pier which was very difficult to walk across considering the wind was so bad, luckily we got to a point where we could sit down and have a drink without the wind being such a pain. It was the first premier league weekend so we then headed to O'Neil's to watch Aston Villa v Tottenham.. I'm not the biggest football fan but I genuinely enjoy watching it. It was also my first time watching football in a pub.... very entertaining I must say lol.
Of course we had to order chicken wings!
It was finally dinner time and Daniel found an Italian restaurant on google that looked really good! The setting here was just lovely and the food was also really good. It was called WildWood and I'd definitely recommend it as they have some really nice dishes to choose from. Their cocktail menu is pretty good too and to top it off, the prices are very reasonable.
Overall, we had a really nice weekend away and of course we're already planning the next one lol.
Love Sham x
