Dinner at Bistrot Pierre

Over the weekend I went to Birmingham as it was my cousins birthday celebrations! I love coming to Birmingham as I always have the best time, not only visiting family but I genuinely enjoy just being in that city. I haven't done a restaurant review in a long time and I was thoroughly impressed by this place so it was only right to share it with you.

Before I get into what the restaurant was like, our plan for the evening was to have dinner, head out for drinks and then go out dancing! We had a lovely dinner at Bistrot Pierre, a traditional French restaurant - this was located just a short walk away from the Mailbox. From the moment we walked in, I just loved the decor and the way it was set up. There's two floors at this place and we had our dinner upstairs where there was the bar and tables for bigger groups. The Christmas decorations really got me in the spirit and I loved the little touches like adding the Christmas crackers.

We went for the Christmas set menu which was £27.95 each, we paid a £10 deposit each as it was also a big group we had. We also had to pre-select the food we wanted before going to the restaurant, I'd never been to a French restaurant before so struggled a little at first to decide what to have. In the end I settled for steak and chips as the main dish and a chocolate brownie for dessert.. my favourites! I wanted to try something different though so I had a salad of lightly curried crab meat, plum tomatoes and dressed leaves for my starter.

The starter was nice, different for me as I've not had crab meat before but I liked how everything went together. I couldn't finish it though as I may have had a bit too much bread lol. Being in a French restaurant, you're sure to find the best type of bread and I definitely made the most of the bread basket we got.

Honestly, steak has to be my favourite main dish. I had a medium rare rump steak which was cooked to perfection, full of flavor and so tender too. Of course it was accompanied by some peppercorn sauce and pommes frites (french fries) and a gem lettuce which had some shallot dressing.

Dessert was divine. I had chocolate brownie with salted caramel sauce! You can't go wrong with a good brownie.. I mean, sometimes I find that they can be abit too sweet but this was just right.

The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was their cocktail selection as there wasn't much to choose from however their mocktails looked so good! My cousins friend mentioned that she always gets a mocktail and gets them to add a shot of rum to it.. genius. We all went with this idea of ordering a mocktail and had a shot of something added to it.

The portion sizes of each meal was perfect. I didn't feel ridiculously full afterwards, considering it was a three course meal too, I'm normally struggling after the main meal. I must also mention that the service was brilliant, the staff were extremely accommodating, especially the waiter who looked after our table. I wish I got his name so I can mention him, he really did go above and beyond especially as we had some delays with two of the other guests.

I would definitely recommend this place if you're in Birmingham and fancy trying something different. I believe this restaurant is located in other areas in the UK too. I would love to come back here one day as I've heard they have some other lovely dishes.

Here are a few other photos from the evening - after dinner we headed to Bar Estilo for some drinks and some food as two of the ladies weren't able to join us at Bistrot Pierre due to their car breaking down literally a few minutes away from the restaurant!

Us at Bar Estilo - my cousin is the gorgeous queen on my left.

Outfit of the night! My dress is from Zara - I bought this last year and I absolutely love the fit and style, simple with a little bit of sass.
